The head of Morgan Stanley’s commodities trading shop is stepping down, The New York Post reported. John Shapiro, who helped launch Morgan’s energy-trading operation, has told executives he plans to retire at the end of the year.

The shift comes in the wake of a series of missteps in energy trading.

Likely co-successors to Mr. Shapiro are Simon Greenshields, global head of power trading, and Colin Bryce, European chief of institutional sales and trading, The Post said.
